Year 2 Batik Art

In Year 2, we have been learning about batik art - a type of wax resistant art where we use hot wax to 'draw' a design onto fabric using a tjanting tool. We have used this art technique to make flags that represent ourselves.

First, we had to find out about batik and practice using tools before we could design our flag and bring them to life. Later, they will add some sewing to their flag designs to add extra texture. The children have really loved having a go at this challenging art technique!
